Ground works of consequence, delivered by a Canadian firm accountable to its clients since 2009.
Northern Earthworks & Foundations Corp. is an independently held, professionally governed geotechnical construction firm. We were incorporated in Alberta in 2009 to serve the growing need for a single accountable contractor across the Canadian west — one that could combine investigative rigour with production capability, without subcontracting away the engineering.
The ground is a client's largest uncontrolled variable. We control it.
Every capital project depends on decisions made below grade. Ground conditions determine schedule, structural reserve, and long-term operating cost — and they are the single largest source of change orders on Canadian construction programs. Our mandate is to remove that variability.
We do so by combining an experienced construction workforce with a professionally licensed engineering group that reports through our Chief Operating Officer. Every foundation design, shoring system, and ground improvement scheme we execute is stamped by our own engineers of record, and is delivered under a single contractual point of accountability.
We are certified to ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety, and hold a Certificate of Recognition (COR) from the Alberta Construction Safety Association. Field operations are conducted under a documented Quality Management System aligned with CSA W178, CSA S6, and applicable municipal and provincial engineering codes.
A leadership team of engineers and construction principals.
A professional engineer with over three decades in Canadian heavy civil construction, Elaine leads the corporation and chairs the executive committee.

Graham is the senior client-facing principal for all engagements, and the point of contact for owners, consultants, and general contractors.
David oversees the geotechnical engineering group and directs execution across all active projects, with responsibility for quality, safety, and technical governance.
Our obligations to workers, communities, and the land.
We work on ground that has meaning to the communities around it. Where our projects fall within the traditional territories of First Nations, Métis, or Inuit peoples, we engage early through the client's Indigenous relations framework, and we seek out qualified Indigenous suppliers, joint-venture partners, and trainees for site-based roles. We are a signatory to the Progressive Aboriginal Relations program of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business.
